Swansea Christmas Parade

My family and I all went to the Swansea Christmas parade on Sunday. The bad weather held off for a few hours, so nobody got a soaking. The kids enjoyed, but to be honest I was rather disappointed.

When I was a boy (a few decades ago !) I remember the parade being much bigger and better.
There were dozens of 'floats' that went along the Kingsway. A big Christmas tree at College Street and do you remember those huge Christmas lights that looked like giant oranges?

Anyway, the point I'm trying to get at is that the whole event was bigger and better and more businesses took part. This years parade consisted of a couple of trailers towed by tractors. The trailers were from Swansea Council, The Wave, EV Post and one or two others. Santa was on a trailer too. Samba Tawe made a lot of noise and they were very happy doing so. Some people carried lanterns (unlit for health and safety !!). There was a marching band too.

But where were the rest of the businesses in Swansea. There are enough household names here in the City that could give something back and get on board their own trailer. Here are some suggestions as to which local businesses could participate in the event : Days motor group, FRF motors, Swansea City football, Ospreys rugby, The LC, Debenhams. Even if only a few joined in it would be a great way to advertise and make the whole event bigger and more varied.
