Celebs at The Penthouse

So an exclusive guest list of celebs gets to view the new Penthouse Restaurant in Swansea tonight.

This is the highest restaurant in Wales at the top of the highest building in Wales at The Tower as part of the Meridian Quay development on Swansea Marina.
The Tower stands at 107m tall over 29 storeys. The top 3 storeys are taken up by the restaurant.

The £2.5m restuarant was bought by a Mumbles business man and it's planning to open at the end of November. It will sit 290 diners on the two upper floors and have a separate bar area on the lower floor.

So who are the exclusive A-list celebs that get to view the ultimate eatery in Swansea? Could it be C-Z-J on a whirlwind trip to the city? What about P'Talbot's finest, Michael Sheen? How about Russel T Davies, he's always loyal to the City?
All wrong I'm afraid. Who we get is Britain's got no fucking talent reject Shaheen Wots-his-name.
For such an exlcusive and innovative new venue for Swansea, then the origaniser should have set their sights far higher than this z-list wannabee.

  1. Well I dont think you missed much as it sounds like the whole thing got off to a very bad start! Friends of mine went and were queuing outside in the wind and rain for ages as only 1 lift in the building was working. They said they could see all the food just sitting on the floor in the foyer whilst they were waiting for the lift and the staff were still taking the food up in the lift at 7.30pm which held up the queue even longer! Not sure why they were bringing the food in from outside to a high class restaurant launch????

When they eventually got up there the place wasn't finished and everyone crammed into 1 small area. There were holes in the ceiling with wires hanging down and dust everywhere - if you sat on a chair it was covered in dust as was my friends jacket by the time he got home! No mirrors in the ladies loos either so you couldn't straighten your hair out after being blown apart in the queue outside. The Evening Post had a great picture on Friday of the long queue of well heeled guests all looking glum and fed-up waiting to get into the place!

The Britains got talent 12 year old boy turned up but didn't sing and the charity auction didnt go ahead!

So much for fine dining and high standards of customer service! Lol!

  3. It could only happen in Swansea.
I would'nt be surprised if the Council were involved in this disaster somehow, as they have managed to wreck the rest of our City, even more than the German bombers did in the war.

  4. Dont waste your money. Went last night. Service appaling, a waitress who didnt know how to open wine, then proceeded to pour it over the table. The cheap nasty barbie pink toilets. A 14.50 starter that was no more than a retro glass filled full of iceberg lettuce and three crayfish! Appaling for what has been billed as the best restaurant in Swasnea.

  6. We went on the 28th Dec.....It was terrible! Un-trained staff, cheap and chavvy decor, terrible management, terrible and over-priced food, bits of scrap paper stuck to walls to tell you where the toilets are!!
Such a shame......such potential.....don't know how they can put it right!
Whoever is running the show has no idea at all about the hospitality business. The poor floor staff looked stressed, unkempt and un-professional.......all very young.

  8. I have been to the restaurant on two occasions. The place is an unmitigated disaster. The menu is poor...and extremely limited. The staff are keen but clueless, especially when it comes to wine. The lighting is awful. The chairs are like something from a bus station waiting room. The paintwork is like something from a child's classroom...and as for the toilets....avoid at all costs. My wife said there was no loo paper in any of the 5 cubicles.....shocking.
The place has been opened on a shoestring. Under funded, under trained and over hyped. It really is dire....which is a shame because it has such potential. A friend at my table described it as the worst dining experience of his life and rapidly named it Faulty Towers....which is so apt. The truth is that even Basil and Cybil would do a better job and Manuel knows more about wine than any of the staff there!

  9. They are the worst so called business ever!! They have a management team of monkeys who have never ever managed anything in their lives before....they dont pay their staff, and keep dodging them when it comes to handing over hard earned cash!! They say be there to collect it at a certain time - but conveniently enough, no one is ever there with the wages!! The company is going to go under and hopefully all the management there will get what they deserve and lose their rubbish 'jobs'!!!!!
